Two-dimensional mathematical theory for linear and non-linear shells corresponding to tree-dimensional shell type elastic bodies will be constructed and substantiated, which will be free of physical and geometric hypotheses, in a way similar to the one used by I. Vekua. The goal of the project is a generalization of I. Vekua’s method for linear and nonlinear shells and also for the theory of mixtures and study of respective mathematical problems, as well as analytical and approximate solution of practically important problems and comparison of the obtained results with the classical ones. The so called localization-delocalization problems will be considered, the solution of which will increase the reliability of constructions. In other words, owing to the selection of thickness and number of layer, anisotropy and heterogeneity a desirable redistribution of stresses will be achieved.
