Start Date: 2009-01-01       End Date: 2012-01-01

The main goal of presented project is to carry out the theoretical study of propagation dynamics of planetary electromagnetic waves and appropriate nonlinear solitary structures ( vortices, solitons, zonal flows , etc.) in weakly ionized ionosphere of the Earth. Accounting of an influence of spatially inhomogeneous neutral wind ( zonal flow) will be essential in the investigation of this dynamics. On the basis of the hydrodynamic theory of magnetized plasma appropriate self-constitent physical and mathematical models will be created, and with regard to interaction with zonal winds the propagation dynamics of Rossby and acoustic-gravity electromagnetic waves in the ionosphere will be investigated. Both linear and nonlinear characteristics of the waves will be examined , new physical generation mechanism of these waves and zonal flow will be revealed.Accounting of interaction of induction electric current and geomagnetic field will substantially enrich the class of possible low-frequency waves in the ionosphere, resolve uncertainties , fill in gaps in the present understanding , and improve the existing physical and mathematical models. The research will be accomplished by means of both analytical and numerical models. The research will be accomplished by means of both analytical and numerical methods. Experimental data from ground and satellite measurements will be used in order to elaborate the relevant physical models. The formulated problem is qualitatively original because it provides the study of electromagnetic nature of planetary waves well-investigated for the neutral atmosphere. Study of dynamics and generation mechanisms of such large-scale structures has primary meaning for a global weather forecasting.
