Place of birth: Tbilisi, Georgia. In 1967 he graduated from the Faculty of Physics of Tbilisi State University, of theoretical physics speciality. During 1967-1998 worked at I. Vekua Institute of Applied Mathematics of Tbilisi State University as a researcher; He is Doctor of Physics and Mathematics (1990). During 1998-2007 he was the head of the laboratory at the same institute. In 2000 and during 2005-2007 he is a Visiting Professor at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (Nanjing, Purple Mountain Observatory). During 2007-2014. was invited as Foreign Professor of Faculty of Physics of Lahore (Pakistan) State University-College; Since 2014 he is a Senior Research Fellow at the I. Vekua Institute of Applied Mathematics of Tbilisi State University. In 2017 he again delivered lectures at Lahore (Pakistan) State University-College; His field of scientific interest is plasma physics, physics of the magnetosphere and ionosphere, theory of thermonuclear devices, theoretical issues of earthquake precursors, solar physics, nonlinear dynamics and chaos. In the sixties he (for the first time in Georgia) began implementation of numerical calculations of physics problems on electronic computing machines, founded the theory of thermonuclear instability in the Tokamak-reactor. He actively collaborates with scientific circles abroad. He is the author of more than 250 scientific papers, most of which have been published in journals with an impact factor. He is participant of many international scientific conferences. In 2002 he awarded Ilia Vekua Prize of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences for the cycle of scientific publications. Under his supervision Pakistani students defended 3 master’s and 2 PhD dissertations. Has received awards from the Ministry of Science and Technology of Pakistan for fruitful research (2011, 2012, 2013). Is the principal investigator and participant of numerous overseas and national science grants. In 1991 he was elected as deputy of the Tbilisi Saburtalo district council, and then the prefect of the same district.
